Car Insurance Eagle (Car Insurance). Why do aircraft use CRT Head Up Displays instead of LCDs?

Why do aircraft use CRT Head Up Displays instead of LCDs? Couldn't you get the same resolution through the collimator optics with an LCD image source?

The newest ones do use LCD technology. The first HUD's where developed during WWII but can be traced back to the prewar reflector gun sights. They where basically advanced gun sights and did not include the range of displays we use today. Post war they where further developed to create the first true HUD's, a CRT to generate an image on a phosphor screen, having the disadvantage of the phosphor screen coating degrading over time. The majority of HUDs in operation today are of this type The Second Generation use a solid state light source, for example LED, which is modulated by an LCD screen to display an image. These systems do not fade or require the high voltages of first generation systems. These systems are on commercial aircraft. Newer micro-display imaging technologies are being introduced, including liquid crystal display (LCD), liquid crystal on silicon (LCoS), digital micro-mirrors (DMD), and organic light-emitting diode (OLED). Yes, as a matter of fact you could, but what fun would that be? CRT heads up display allows the pilot flying to fly the approach without the need to look down at the primary display. It allows the pilot to maintain visual of the runway while maintaining quick reference of air speed, altitude, vertical speed and or Glide slope/localiser depending on the approach. Its just because the plane was designed before LCD technology was developed. F16's first flew in 1974. At the time no LCD technology existed that was capable of working in the way it would be needed. That type of LCD technology didn't develop until around 1996. Current design and future ones use LCD technology such as in the B787.

Best way to fix many rock chips? I have a black acura tl and over the wisconsin winter, i've acquired a lot of small rock chips, some larger. Eagle . How to Derestrict a Honda Dio Scooter

A Honda Dio's top speed is restricted by a small spacing washer placed on the front pulley rod inside your scooter's variator case. The variator case is located on the left side of your scooter below the seat. It is the flattened, cylindrical case to which the kickstand is attached. Destricting your Honda Dio scooter requires you to access this washer and remove it, thereby increasing your Dio's top speed.
Difficulty:Moderately Challenging
Instructions Things You'll Need
Socket wrench
Impact wrench

Step by Step :
1
Loosen the bolt attaching the kickstand to the variator box and pull it partially out to remove the kickstand from your scooter.
2
Unscrew and set aside the three bolts holding the plastic intake cover over your variator box.
3
Loosen each of the six bolts holding the metallic cover of the variator case. When each bolt is loosened, unscrew them completely, starting with the three bolts on the bottom of the case, then moving on to the three bolts on the top of the case. Set the cover and bolts aside.
4
Use an impact wrench to remove the center bolt holding down the front pulley wheel in your variator case. An impact wrench is an air-powered wrench that operates so quickly, it compensates for the fact that the bolt is connected to a spinning axle. Attempting to remove the bolt with a regular socket wrench will only turn the front pulley wheel.
5
Remove the front wheel from the variator case, revealing the front pulley rod.
6
Take the spacing washer off of the front pulley rod.
7
Reassemble the variator system, case and intake cover in reverse order. Ensure that each bolt is sufficiently tightened.
Tips & Warnings
Removing the restricting washer will not affect the CCs of your Dio's engine and is therefore a legal maintenance procedure because it does not change the class of your scooter.

Drive within the laws of your state after removing the restricting washer. Removing the restricting washer could allow your scooter to travel over 30 mph, which in some states is the legal maximum of 50cc scooters.

Eagle . How to Remove the Part That Limits Speed on a 150CC Scooter

Though more powerful than their smaller, 50cc brothers, 150cc scooters can still be somewhat sluggish compared to larger motorcycles and automobiles. In addition to the smallness of their engine's output, this diminished speed can be attributed to a small washer found in the scooter's drivetrain or variator system which restricts the top speed of the scooter. Removing this piece is a completely legal procedure which will improve the overall acceleration power and top speed of your 150cc scooter.
Difficulty:Moderately Challenging
Instructions Things You'll Need
Impact wrench
Socket wrench
Strap wrench

Step by Step :
1
Take the kickstand off of your scooter. The kickstand is held onto the side of the scooter with a small pin located near the top of it. Loosen the top of the pin, pull it slightly out and pull the kickstand off of the side of your scooter. This will give you access to your scooter's variator case.
2
Remove the molded intake case. This is the molded plastic part on the side of the scooter to which your kickstand was attached. On most scooters, this piece is held onto the body of the scooter with three bolts, which can be removed with a socket wrench. Other scooters do not have this piece.
3
Unscrew the six bolts around the outside of the flat, cylindrical piece that looks like a small gearbox. This is the variator case. It houses the belts which power your rear wheel. Three of the bolts are on the top of the case, three are on the bottom.
4
Remove the outside of the front pulley wheel inside the variator case with an impact wrench. An impact wrench is an air-powered wrench which spins fast enough to counteract the spinning of the wheel as you attempt to remove the single bolt that holds it in place. If you do not have an impact wrench or access to one, you can secure the front wheel with a strap wrench and use a regular socket wrench. Secure the wheel by wrapping the strap around it and then wedging the handle of the wrench underneath the back pulley wheel.
5
Pull the small washer from around the front pulley bar upon removing the outside of the front pulley wheel. This washer limits the speed of your 150cc scooter.
6
Put the front pulley wheel back onto the pulley rod, replace the variator case cover and the intake case, and put the kickstand back on the scooter.
Tips & Warnings
Though a legal procedure, removing the restricting washer could require you to reregister your scooter, as it will increase its overall top speed.

Propane works much the same as CNG except that it typically is added as a liquid under far less pressure than natural gas. It also is closer to gasoline in terms of the energy derived from each gallon. Propane-powered vehicles need special fuel tanks, but they're not as expensive as the $15,000-plus high-pressure tanks used on most CNG cars and trucks. Propane is used primarily for fleet vehicles that make day trips. It also is used in farm equipment. Its principal drawback is that it's not as clean-burning as natural gas. Propane is a more complex hydrocarbon, and when it burns, it emits more pollutants. Alcohol fuels Alcohol fuels have been around for years, typically mixed with gasoline at a ratio of 15 percent gas, 85 percent methanol or ethanol. The gasoline is added to help with ignition in cold weather, and so that if the fuel catches fire, it will burn with a colored flame. In their pure states, methanol and ethanol burn with a clear flame, which can create a dangerous situation in the event of a fuel fire. Ethanol is distilled from corn and wheat and is often used in farm vehicles. In addition, it can be used in flexible-fuel and dual-fuel vehicles, although it usually isn't because ethanol filling stations are hard to find — only about 540 of them exist in the entire United States. Methanol, which is distilled from hydrocarbons like coal and natural gas, isn't much used because it isn't as clean as ethanol. As with CNG, use of these fuels requires modification to the fuel storage and delivery systems on cars and trucks. 152 Part II: What Makes It Go? Designer dieset One perhaps surprising entry into the clean-fuel arena is designer diesel. It is called that because, unlike traditional diesel fuel that is refined from sulfur-laden crude oil, these new diesel fuels have been scientifically designed in the laboratory to be free of sulfur and many of the other impurities that have given diesel a reputation as a dirty fuel. One test refinery in Oklahoma is even producing diesel from natural gas. Designer diesels are important because the auto industry is looking to a new generation of environmentally friendly, efficient, small diesel engines — usu ally turbocharged — to augment gasoline and electric power in cars and 377 Car Insurance 1996 eagle summit esicoupe2d 371435

trucks of the future. One reason is that diesel is more efficient than gasoline. A diesel engine in good tune usually uses about 24 percent of the energy in the fuel for propulsion power. Gasoline engines most often run at around 20 percent when in good shape. So diesel, if it's cleaned up, has many good points. In fact, the Partnership for a New Generation of Vehicles (PNGV), a nationwide effort by the major domestic carmakers and the federal government to produce the New Millennium's optimum vehicle, has fixed on these small diesel engines coupled with electric motors as the best hope for achieving its goal of producing a hybrid five-passenger car that can get 70 to 80 miles per gallon with extremely low emissions. Alternative porter plants Alternative fuels lead to a whole new arena of alternative power plants: the innovations that will likely reduce the dependence on the standard internal combustion engine (ICE). Hybrids Actually, the first kind of alternative power system uses a small ICE as a critical component. The system is called a hybrid power plant because it's a mix —

neither fish nor fowl. It combines small internal combustion engines and elec tric motors to get maximum power with minimum emissions and maximum fuel economy. There are two kinds of hybrids (see Figure 7-12 for an illustration): " A series hybrid uses a gasoline or diesel engine, coupled with an alternator, to generate the electricity that the electric motor needs to do its work. The electric motor, though, is what actually propels the vehicle, using its power to rotate a driveshaft or a set of drive axles that turn the wheels. Figure 7-12: A hybrid engine. . Chapter 7: Diesels and Alternatively Powered Vehicles 153 A parallel hybrid uses both motors for propulsion. They can run in tandem, or one can be used as the primary power source with the other kicking in to assist when extra power is needed for starting off, climbing hills, and accelerating to pass other vehicles. The ICE in a parallel hybrid also generates enough electricity to charge a small set of storage batteries mounted in the vehicle's engine compartment or somewhere on the frame. The batteries then provide power for the electric motor when it's called on to do its job.

Energy management Fuel tank & system controls Energy storage unit Thermal management system Hybrid power unit Traction motor An electronic motor controller sends out the marching orders to the two motors, basing its judgment calls on information received from sensors that tell it things like how hard the driver is pressing on the accelerator or how much strain the internal combustion engine is under. Having the ICE generator on-board eliminates the need for the costly recharging systems in use on the current crop of battery-driven electric vehicles. If equipped with the same-size gas tanks as conventional ICE-powered vehicles, hybrids have much greater range because of their significantly improved gas mileage. Honda and Toyota have developed the first commercial hybrid cars. Both are scheduled to go on sale in the United States as year 2000 models. Honda's hybrid — code named the W — uses a 3-cylinder, 1-liter gasoline engine and an electric motor whose size hadn't been disclosed at press time. The gas engine provides the main power, with the electric kicking in as a sort of supercharger when more power is needed.
